Do you need to keep the kids busy for a few hours on the weekend? Do you want the time to be educational as well as fun?
A family outing to the Musee des Beaux-Arts / Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is a great way to spend time together while discovering cultural diversity. In addition to popular art workshops, they also offer musical activities, films and other surprises.
Every Saturday and Sunday, you can take advantage of free activities – yes, free – and have a memorable experience for the whole family!
A memorable experience for the whole family
It was a Sunday. My daughter was working on the reconstruction of their basement and I was tasked with keeping the girls occupied for five hours without being bored – that is both them and me.
I took them to Musee des Beaux-Arts / Montreal Museum of Fine Arts . We spent the afternoon doing workshops and visiting a few of the galleries. I was surprised that there was no entry fee for children. But I wasn’t surprised to see that some of the workshops fill up quickly and so to get tickets you need to arrive several hours in advance. Since you are given a pass that gives you free roam of the museum (except for special exhibitions), it is feasible to arrive early to get your ticket and then occupy the kids by wandering through one or several of the galleries. They also offer some drop-in workshops in the Family Lounge where time can be whittled away with the instructed activity, games or books. Before anyone utters those feared words “I am bored!” you will find it is time to head home.
My good Karma was learning that these free kids’ art workshops were part of the Family Weekend program.
